I do have some kind of dreams linked to photography.. One of these "dreams" is to visit Iceland in participation of a Photo-Tour with a group of professional and/or highly enthusiast hobby photographer.. Hereto I started to save money and in parallel tried to find out which tour fits to my expectations.. It did not take long to figure out that the photo-tour offered by Martin Bailey is the one I am looking for.. :-)
In 2014 I had the chance to live up my "dream".. Even to raise my luck: Thomas Schwarz who I know from one of a Photo-Workshop which we participated together previously was also participating.. To be honest: It was him who made me aware about the tour with Martin Bailey by his tweet..
I'd like to write my feeling and impression about Iceland but in all 3 languages I am able to speak it will be not enough to bring it through. Once I heart on a Podcast referring to the Iceland: "It is Disney Land for Photographers!"..
For sure the good organization and management of the tour with regards to Tim Vollmer 's effort has also influenced the overall impression.. Nevertheless 2 points which you can not influence and predict does have a big impact on the success and perception of the tour:
1. Weather : even it changes every 5 Minutes in Iceland, here I am mainly focused on the possibility to have the chance to see the northern lights
2. Mixture / Composition of the group: I can not recall that I answered any kind of questionnaire which enables an outcome to "understand!" my character / mind-set.. Even though the group was somehow well convenient and open minded (this approach is not only essential for photography because you spend about 12 days with the group and believe me: you will not only talk about photography!)
Except the weather (I do not refer to the reality that on Iceland this changes in a very short notice and somehow you get used to earlier than you can imagine.. The point is that we did not have had the chance to see the northern lights within the 12 days we spend on Iceland) all the 12 days were the most excited of 2014 and from a photographic point of view one of the most remarkable event I ever was part of.
Here you see the group which made this "Photo-Tour" to a very special event for me:
I created an album linked to this Photo-Tour.. I am not done with post-processing of my images.. I have more of them on my Flickr-Stream.. Next step will be than to upload them here but this time I assume there will be no need to explain for each image my feeling :-)
Nevertheless I see the need to highlight that the color ref. to blue is not somehow manipulated by Lightroom and/or Photoshop.. This was what I saw on-site.. It is incredible.. I know.. But it reflects the truth.. Unfortunately I do not have a GPS-Logger so I could not allocate the area where I made this image.. On my iPhone I used an app but now and then I missed to start the app.. In addition I have to see how it works to merge the log-file in Lightroom to the images.. I assume youtube will be a help hereto.. Furthermore I am not aware about details to the location as what and why it so special.. Here I will find out a helpful wikipedia post and link it afterwards..
Well, first of all I have to admit that I rarely used Photoshop while finalizing my images in post-processing.. Lightroom was and over all may continue to be the main driver since it covers a big area of need.. Even I am open mined to learn new and…
Since 2013 I am very keen on participating on this kind of "come together".. No award, no race.. Only aim is to make new photos with respect to the given topic.. I have to admit that I was not able to make it happen for more than once.. I know it's a…

My next stop after my Oslo visit was Stockholm.. To be honest: Even I was impressed from Oslo.. Stockholm is way more impressive.. Without to have it in mind it was a good decision to visit first Oslo so my impression increased during my tour.. I am just… Read more
